Veterans4Quality Program

About Veterans4Quality
Veterans4Quality™ is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to close the gap between military service experience and private sector professions. This is a fast-track career-training program for returning veterans that provides coursework and hands-on training to become software quality assurance engineers.
Started in Austin by the small private company, Bridge360, and through partnerships with companies like Whole Foods, Dell, HomeAway and NewComLink, the free technology curriculum and paid on-the-job training program has achieved great success. Since its inception in 2014, 62 veterans have trained for and are working in new careers.

Who is Involved
Bridge360 provides the free courses for returning veterans. Bridge360, along with Austin business leaders such as Dell and Whole Foods, will offer paid on-the-job training programs for the veterans to implement what they learn in the classroom.

What They Learn
  • The various software development life cycle models with heavy emphasis on the Agile Methodology
  • What goes into a test strategy along with the "why?" and "what gets measured?"
  • How to create and build a test plan, test cases and log defects
  • The various types of testing from Functional to Performance, as well as appropriate industry tools
  • They receive a broad foundation and complete hands-on exercises to demonstrate their new skills

What's Involved
Experts have designed this program to accelerate the process for veterans to begin a career as software quality assurance engineers. This 15-week program integrates a paid OJT/internship whereby the Veteran students quickly contribute to a company’s success with earning capability.
