"78 percent of CEOs in developed economies say their companies are going global to find new customers, compared with 48 percent who are looking to reduce costs."
"CEOs say they are moving into the emerging-market countries like the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) primarily to find new customers and to service existing ones."
From PricewaterhouseCooper's 9th Annual Global CEO Survey
Preparing a product for international markets involves much more than translation. Creating software that works effectively in multiple countries requires both software process knowledge and technical skills that are not taught at major academic institutions. Yet, the IDC projects software internationalization to be a $9 billion business by 2007.
